I'm sure that everybody was too ruddy busy checking their FB status, Twitter ( X or whatever they're calling it now ) to even take photographs & / or videos of the scenery. Ah, progress.....

Often I write these poems with one thing in mind and they turn into something else along the way. I was initially wanting to write about the morals of someone shoving their way into the best spot of some 'event' so they could get the best experience, feeling that their experience would be more 'profound' than others. I think as I wrote it I kind of became ashamed of me thinking I'd enjoy it more than anyone else - and - after all - I still got a poem out of it however much I saw of the views going down...

But don't get me onto the whole subject of 'phone zombies' - I have *lots* of photos of people wandering around mesmerised by their screens. I just feel that in 10-20 years time we'll look back and wonder what we were all doing? Those pics will make it here for sure at some point!

I see people who resemble " tech zombies ", Cybermen, or Borg sans the machine bits. I try to keep a healthy balance between being online & just reconnecting with nature & real life. People have actually FORGOTTEN how to communicate without using " LOL ", " WTF ", " IMO / IMHO ", etc.

Personally I had to use post once & forgot where the RETURN ADDRESS went on the envelope, which is a bissel tad much. I have a ton of physical books but do more reading online. Rather ALARMING.

There's a lot to be said for tech - there's a lot to be said about analog ...!

IT IS better than the pre - industrial world or even the EARLY industrial age.

I've heard Gershwin, & his Rhapsody in Blue is a paean to the Industrial Age ( fun fact of the day, BTW ).
