You had me! Damn it 🥴 I was pulling for you! So, if you ever want to filter out hopeless romantics, see who responds to this the way I wished it had ended--yes?
I so appreciate your sharing the wistful reliving lost moments. To me it is a sign of being alive and feeling the past so deeply, that remembrance of what never was. I, too, wonder about certain moments of "what if". Sometimes my heart literally aches. Well done, Richard.
Really terrific! There’s a saying “if only youth knew, and if only old age could.” But old age can if we only allow ourselves to accept it and be grateful.
You've created such a wonderful piece here and the photo is wonderful. It sounds like an authentic story. Is this synchronicity real? I saw the title in my inbox and thought this was about your mother. Then I was pleasantly surprised to see Louise Bourgeois in the piece but hang on you surprise your reader a third time with something even greater. And I adore Louise. (Have got nothing against your mother... never met her). Masterpiece!
Thank you so much for your comment - it means a lot to me that my work is appreciated. It is a work of pure fiction - the idea of the 'paths not taken' always fascinates me. Louise Bourgeois is one of my all time inspirations - I just love how fierce, spontaneous and creative she was ...
Fierce and creative, those are two words describing her very well. Love her character too from the documentaries I've seen of her. You are welcome! At this point, I don't care what you say, it sounded true to me. Lol! Regardless, I loved reading this.
The road re - taken. Positive ! I've had some embryonic potential relationships that I'm actually kind of glad never really TOOK OFF even IF I've liked like a Buddhist / Hindu Sadhu for north of 20 years. I know that the element of irony is like layers of lead around a petrified tree stump.
what! Is this real? What a text. Incredibly inmersive and well written. Amazing!
That's very kind of you Alvaro - glad you enjoyed - it is a work of total fiction!

Wow Richard, you nailed it ! Looking forward to the next one :)!
We're dying to know aren't we?

Thank you Angela - there is often much positive in the melancholy

Thank you Alex - yes the eternal cry of 'if only I knew then ...'
Take off the mask of who you think you should be. Incredible writing.
Thank you Monica!

It would make a good story to meet someone whom you nearly got involved with twenty years later and to realise that you made the RIGHT decision!
I could tell you things that would make your hair turn WHITE & then FALL OUT, my friend.....
They accelerated my exit 50 - fold.
I love the idea of short fictions based on photographs. This one is beautiful. Short a sweet. My compliments!
What a wonderful, magical tale! Thank you! And thank you @rolandoandrade for leading me here!
