I like this. I also dislike my own voice (I bet even Richard Burton did too - disliked his own voice, not mine). Have courage - I liked your reading. It sounded and scanned differently to the first version I heard in my head but the audio reading added to the experience and made me read it again, with new understanding of it. My challenge is that I don’t have time to do that for every Substack post I read; that shouldn’t stop you making the audio available with yours. All it does is add - it takes nothing away. Good work.
Thank you Nick - I don’t assume that the way I read something will change the way someone consumes a poem of mine or anyone else’s - but I do worry that it could spoil it in some way so it makes me happy to know that it didn’t do that for you.
But listen, there are voices who their owners MUST know are something special - I’m thinking Lisa Hannigan here but there are sure to be many more !!
The nature of reality. Weighty stuff ! Are we the mirror, the reflection, OR BOTH at roughly the same time ? How certain can we be that we aren't the dream of an other - dimensional being ?
To be honest it was a little shallower than this - I think I had in my mind how we often ( particularly in poetry ) write in the first person and yet ( well in my case ) are rarely talking about ourselves ... well, not our actual selves - not in a deceitful way - just an .... exploration?

I get very Zen at times. Even more after partaking of THC. I allowed the big blue genie to leave the lamp & start a philosophy discussion, LOL.
