I love your posts. Seriously. Every. Time, I feel something that cannot be named, worded, articulated. It's the image and the words. Sometimes the words hit, other times they don't. But the images...especially first and last...so powerful. I was thinking that cafes are so essential to a time in our lives, when we need to be alone among people, or forced to be together in a common place. The cafe is iconic. As central to being a citified American as listening to the music of our coming of age. TY!

Thank you so much Jennifer - it means a lot to know that what I do is appreciated. It gives me such pleasure to go back over my archive of images and pull together this posts and find the threads that hold them together. Some of the cafés here are just captured along the way but others have more significance. The Euston Sandwich Bar being one. I would pass it almost everyday when I was working in that part of London and occasionally actually buy something there (I'd love to say it was the greatest sandwich ever but It really wasn't anything special !) When it closed it marked a change in the area, which underwent much development and this tied in with when my work moved away from here. Strangely I went back here last year and sat in a chain coffee shop having some lunch and realised that it was just where the Euston Sandwich Bar used to be ... which in turn made me seek out the images ... there's always a connection or story in a place ...

I've always love a greasy spoon cafe. One we use to frequent was in The Quadrant arcade on Regents street, it always was empty, so great for a group of us. The toilet never had a seat, which must of always a surprise for the ladies 🤣 It disappeared when the arcade was modernised in 2019 😕

I love a good café, the more down to earth the better. Lovely shots

Absolutely ... there's nothing like a cheap and cheerful breakfast / lunch / dinner!

Definitely. One of the reasons I love LOndon is that it's full of them, though not so much now. A great shame

These shots are BEAUTIFUL! Love the quality and character of each of them. I found myself trying to guess the camera used and then was delighted to see the list at the end :).

Thank you so much Juliette - there is always discussion about whether to put camera info in or not - I put it in because ( like you ) I'm always interested to know a little more about each shot I see on people's newsletters.

Then there's me, who loves to read comments as much as savoring images and said, "Whaaat, I missed the cameras!?" Then, went back to see and started chuckling because besides Nikon, I was pretty much lost. 😋

But only a few years ago, I begged that my phone's selfie camera took high res images. Now I am sooo happy.

Love your eye, Richard. You sing with your cameras.

Thank you Donna - I don't get to take all the cameras out much nowadays - you have to commit to having just the one and I do like shooting with the digital. Some of these newletters are inspired by my film photography but there's only so much to draw from in the archives so I'll surely dust off some of the cameras below.

You inspire me, Richard. My husband served in the military in Vietnam and took dozens of tolls of slides. They still exist in a metal file box but the mildew smell is suffocating so they're in storage outside.

Since winter here in Central Florida is pleasant most of the time, I'm going to give this one last pass on our lanai. (That fancy word for a screened porch 😋)

We had bought an attachment that converts a slide to a print digitally but it's probably obsolete. But Amazon is my friend 😃
