1.
How can perfect 
exist when you
know you can always 
imagine and yearn
for so much more.

2.
I asked you here.
You told me so.
Did we ever meet?
I just don’t know.

❦

3.
And at dusk the city
around you comes to life.
People show their intention by
illumination, which is not to say
you should ignore those in
the shadows or darkness.

❦

4.
Sometimes I want more
at other times less.
But never exactly 
what I have.

❦

5.
For a flash the spark
lit up once more. 
It didn’t last long but
proved there was 
charge left, residual.

❦

6.
Occasionally it takes 
the anxiety to realise
that you have become too
comfortable in your excuses.

❦

7.
Do it,
Ignore those excuses
Conjured up to
Kick your dreams into the long grass

❦

8.
We all play at who
we are - some of us
do better than others.

Then there are those
who don’t even realise
they are part of this ridiculous game.

I always thought that it was
up to me to mend this and
make things better. Perhaps
to make you stop and
see things through my emotions.
But I know now that I cannot
do this and perhaps that's
some stubborness that’s
been nurtured by you?

The only way to measure
depth is by understanding
how far into it
you wish to sink.

Even the dog makes
me feel guilty -
especially the dog.

❦

12.
Perhaps our lives
would be child’s play
if we gave our
ideas and passions
a sell-by date?
