Time is capricious, irregular and mischievous, keeping itself amused by misleading our perceptions. Consider: You have plenty of time, then suddenly none at all. You are almost done, complete, when the seconds arrest and slow. But we can cheat time, stay awake late into the night. Play it at its own game, slow the approach of light. Or distract ourselves with some menial task that makes the hours rush past in a flash. Seems the only thing we can’t seem to do is to live in the present, enjoying each second anew.
