Nothing to distract you

When was the last time you just sat,
stood, leant or knelt,
without a single thing to distract you?

No smartphone, tv, shopping list,
book, newspaper, musical instrument,
laptop, pen, rosary,
hymn sheet,  Rubik's cube, magazine,
fidget,  journal, knitting needles,
or an origami crane formed out of paper.

Alone, as they say, with your thoughts. Perhaps.

You are in the sunlight, aware that there
is something deeper, somewhere the pressure
bares down and the need to illuminate
becomes a blinding necessity.
