You reach the end. Abyssal relief, but, boy, the pressure. The monstrous bottom-feeders with their lighting booms dangling and gaping mouths, full of razor teeth, illuminate the scene with an eerie bio-phosphorescence. Is this the light they say you see? The tunnel, vortex, or whirlpool? There are piercing pinpricks everywhere, others or other paths to or from someplace? And even though we have always known what is here it will come to surprise each of us how the mechanism works, how significant or insignificant this moment is. A wry smile, that no one sees, sticks to your mouth as you empty, as you are let into the one secret nobody spills, nor remembers your finale or your first steps.
Something lighter soon I promise! This sequence of four photographs in the Lone series taken on the Nikon d750.
